Michael Pachla: Draft weekend is a good time for trades. Some names in the rumor mill Rasmus Ristolainen, Jimmy Vesey, PK Subban, Milan Lucic, Kyle Okposo, Jesse Puljujarvi, Jason Zucker all have been linked to, or might be of interest to, the Sabres

I am really not too thrilled about any of those players. Subban would be great but a lot of Money, Frank Vesey.. Zucker? Meh...

Keep Risto, Unless you are getting a young center in return (Rakell would be nice)

Okposo for Lucic

Would you trade two terrible contracts one-for-one?

Why not?

No no no no no no. He's much, much worse than Okposo. Eriksson? Sure. Neal, even.

And screw Lucic anyway for the Miller hit. I hate his face and he's awful at hockey now

Just inquiring..I see Cole Caufields name mentioned to be drafted by the Sabres. Has anyone here seen him play? Is he a pure goal scorer that they say he is?

Byram, Dach, Caufield is my preferred selection order.

Nylander is going to surprise this season and continue to improve. Go for Pulhardy he's worth the risk imo.

I think the Lucic for Okposo trade is awesome

Keep risto and get PK, would be great.

Gnraley blog but you never mentioned who had the best legs...

the young center I'd really to see them go after is Florida's Henrik Borgstrom, if there was a match between the two clubs...risto and add in #31 if need be

Yes, And he’s smart with some good wheels. His only knock is his height honestly. If he was 6ft. He would be right up there with kakko

Dear lord, why? He has an elite scowl but he is god awful, and he's horrible at 5-on-5, where we're already terrible. I'm sure there's a truculent FA we can pay a million dollars to hit stuff and look tuff. Signing Kaleta today would probably have a more positive impact.

Good blog Pach. I definitely think Botterill is going to make a trade over the next few days and will probably involve 31 and 67. I also think he has identified what players he wants in a trade and that could include guys like Vesey and others.

I'm not too crazy about getting Vesey. But if they end up moving Sheary they'll need a 3LW and he would be fine. Cost? I wouldn't give more than 4th rd pick.

Risto- I have been on the don't trade Risto train and I'm not getting off of it. Unless it's a deal that can't be refused, sure but I would rather keep him as I like the RD side of him and Montour.

Subban- doubtful they can pull that trade off and I don't have interest in helping out other teams cap problems.

Lucic for Okposo- Meh

Puljujarvi- agree that might not be a bad idea but I would buy low for sure.

Zucker- all in. Perfect fit in the top 6. I wouldn't mind adding Donato in this trade.

I would also kick the tires on Roslovic and find a buyer for Scandella for a pick.

I don't anticipate many major trades during the draft because the league isn't even going to have there salary cap total announced until sometime Saturday, which is going to affect some teams ability to make a deal.

Subban did not have the greatest of seasons in 2018-19 but the 30 yr. old still managed 31 points (9+22) which would have been third amongst defensemen on the Sabres. He's a right-handed shot, can still skate and move the puck and if you want a replacement for Ristolainen, he's the guy.

Tbf, PK scored 31 points in 63 games...
